Calendar of Events

Council Meetings:

The Chinese Immersion Parents Council of Fremont normally meets on the first Tuesday of each month (*with some exceptions) at Azevada Elementary School in the multi-purpose room. The meeting starts from 6:30pm and goes to about 8:00pm. This is a business meeting where we discuss topics related to supporting the Mandarin Immersion Program. These council meetings are open to all parents with children in the Mandarin Immersion program. Parents of future students to the program or other interested parties are welcome to attend to learn more about this program and parent support organization, and to talk with parents with children already in the program. Typically, we have about 40 parents attend these meetings. Representatives from the school administration, the district, the teachers, and CIPCF typically give updates related to this program. Child-care (free) is provided in an adjacent room by high school volunteers.

Library Story-Time:

The CIPCF hosts Preschool Story-time sessions at the Fremont Main Library (on Stevenson Blvd) throughout the school year. For more details and dates, click here.

Outreach Events:

Mandarin Immersion Lottery on May 18th

For registered kindergarten students for the 2017-18 school year, the next step to getting into the Mandarin Immersion Program at Azevada is to submit an Intra-District Transfer Form. These forms will be available in the Azevada Front Office starting May 8th and until May 12th. The completed forms must be submitted to the Student Support Services in the district offices by 4:30pm May 12th. The lottery will be held on May 18th and the results of the lottery will be posted at Azevada on June 9th just outside the front office. For the full FUSD 2017-18 Registration Timeline, click here.

The transfer form asks for basic information and most people would be able to fill out the form at the front office of Azevada. You can ask the clerk there about the best way to deliver the form to the district office. In fact, the Azevada front office may offer to deliver the form for you, if time permits. Though you are submitting a request to transfer your student to Azevada to join the Mandarin Immersion Program, the form is only processed if you get a seat in the program. You will not lose your seat at your home school unless you first get a seat at Azevada. The front office at Azevada can answer any further questions you might have about this registration process.
